CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR GIRLS
West Country Wolves gives girls across the South West access to basketball, leadership development, international competition and opportunities they won't find anywhere else in the region. Basketball gets them through the door. What they leave with goes far beyond it.
Basketball is the entry point.
Development is the outcome.
West Country Wolves is a girls-only development programme built around four things — basketball, leadership, opportunity and personal growth.
Girls don't just train with us.
They develop with us.
We run monthly Wolves Development Days, leadership workshops, 3v3 competitions and community projects throughout the year.
Alongside that, selected players access regional and international opportunities — including our first representative squad heading to the Paris World Games in 2027.
WHAT WE DEVELOP

Basketball Development
Basketball is our foundation — but how we coach it goes beyond skills and drills. Sessions are structured to develop decision-making, discipline and the ability to perform under pressure. Things that matter long after the final whistle.

Through mentoring, workshops and guest speaker sessions, we develop leadership behaviours that go well beyond the court. Confidence, communication and responsibility are built deliberately into every part of the programme.
Leadership Development

Opportunity Pathways
We create access to experiences that most girls in the South West simply wouldn't reach on their own — international tournaments, development camps, regional competitions and wider pathways across sport, education and community.

Every part of the West Country Wolves programme is designed to develop who a girl is, not just what she can do on a basketball court. Resilience, ambition, self-belief and the ability to set a goal and work towards it — these are the real outcomes of the programme.
Personal Growth

We saw what
was missing.
So we built it.
West Country Wolves started with a simple idea, taking a group of girls to compete at the Paris World Games. But the more Rachel and Rio talked about it, the bigger the vision became.

They wanted to create opportunities for girls that weren't just about being the best player in the room. So they built something that goes further, giving girls access to experiences that develop who they are, not just how they play.
PARIS WORLD GAMES 2027

An experience they'll
ever forget.
Alongside the core programme, selected players are invited into a representative development group for the Paris World Games 2027, one of Europe's largest youth basketball tournaments.
Selection is based on commitment, attitude, coachability and development progress, not ability alone.

This is bigger
than Paris.
Our long-term ambition is to build
a programme that gives girls across the South West consistent access
to development, competition and opportunity all year round.
Monthly development days
Full-day experiences combining basketball, leadership workshops, project work and team development — every month throughout the year.
Leadership workshops
and mentoring
Structured sessions with specialist partners designed to build confidence, communication and leadership, beyond what any basketball session alone can offer.
3v3 tournaments
and competitive events
Competitive festivals across
the South West giving girls real game experience in a format that's fast, inclusive and accessible at every level.
International pathways
Paris is our first international opportunity. As the programme grows, we're building further pathways that give girls access to competition and experience beyond the South West.
